The Association of Historical Studies ‘Koryvantes’ in cooperation with the Academy of Historical European Martial Arts ‘Leontes’ took part in the 2nd “Via Egnatia” Festival, which was organized by the Eastern Macedonia – Thrace Regional Unit under the aegis of the Ministry of Culture and Sports on Saturday, 3rd of September in Alexandroupolis (Νorth Greece). The public was able to enjoy displays of Late Byzantine swordsmanship using museum quality armors, longswords, which were the weapons of the nobles, and paramerium(byzantine sabers) and shields, the arms of the soldiers.

The spectators embraced the efforts of our Association, given that it was the first time in Greece that a real-life three-dimensional reenactment of armored Warrior Saints and Greek Knights was shown to the public together with the martial dimension of Byzantine Martial Art.

We would like to thank:

-Ms. Aggeliki Giannakidou, Founder of the Ethnological Museum of Thrace
