Western Medieval armor in Byzantine style ?

Scholae Palatinae

From: Hellenic Armors

A very weird German anatomical cuirass (15 century) consisted by dozen of riveted arch-like lamellar riveted in horizontal zones , seems to resemble the visual impact of lamellar Byzantine klibanion. Can be this a plausible artistic connection ?Τhe sure is that this very cuirass never have be seen on battle field , parade armor or just αν experimental prototype ?
