The box held the charcoal drawing (I estimate done in the 1870’s).
Corporal Benjamin Aborn was a decorated sniper in the American Civil War for the North. He was shot in the belly and survived.
The papers are his discharge from the military at the conclusion of the war.
The sword is a “lodge sword”,asword used for parades.
